#GarageMemberHighlight: Metabolic, CEO Ryan Hanley and Founder Matt Phelps. Both native to the area, this entrepreneurial-minded duo have some big plans.
It’s evident that fitness has defined the better part of Matt’s life. Matt started Metabolic in 2013 and began his fitness career long before that. In just a short amount of time, Metabolic has grown from 150 clients to building a community of over 3,000 loyal clients and 6 locations. With an MS in Kinesiology and Exercise Science, Matt dove into the science behind the industry and has become quite the teacher himself. With over 16 years experience training thousands of people, he stresses the importance of truly coaching at the studios. Now Metabolic is one of the best local entrepreneurial successes in the region.
Enter Ryan, a long-time Metabolic client (and Garage member) and a general wealth of knowledge. This is one of the most important and wisest things an entrepreneur can do – realize where their skills and energy are most valuable to the company, understand their strengths/weaknesses and engage assistance to help their company succeed in the best way possible. The energy between the two of these influencers is palpable.
This team has built something special for our region and has changed many lives. The workout is meant to be a richening experience, while you’re getting better and stronger, you also have the opportunity to feel connected to a larger ecosystem by fostering new relationships.
Our businesses are not unlike in the sense that we have a strong emphasis on community as the backbone of our existence both inside our building walls as well as within our cities we reside in.
Metabolic was recently voted Best Gym in the Capital District. On any given day you can be working out next to a Fortune 500 CEO, a collegiate athlete or your best friend’s mom. It’s a place for cardio and strength training fitness. Metabolic works to define both physical and mental strength.
It’s safe to say that this team has more momentum than ever. We’re excited to watch them on their journey as they begin to expand nationally and continue to influence the startup economy in the Capital Region. In the meantime, try out a class!
